Welcome back!

This is the third week of my four-part series using Google Bard. After using it for three weeks, I realized that Gemin Pro was integrated into Bard and released to general public access on December 6th, 2023, significantly improving the model's capabilities. The full capabilities of this upgrade are still unfolding.

Gemini Pro and its relationship with Bard.

^{1.) First, let’s explain what Bard is pre-Gemini Pro.}

Bard is an AI chatbot (LLM) - that allows users to ask questions, receive answers, and even have creative text formats generated.
Bard is currently available through Google's Vertex AI platform and is being integrated into various Google services like Search, Ads, and Chrome.
Focused on factual information and knowledge retrieval
Limited creative potential. While Bard could generate some innovative text formats, its capabilities were more basic and less diverse.

^{2.) What is Gemini Pro?}

Google Gemini Pro is a robust large language model (LLM). It's like a superpowered AI brain capable of processing and understanding vast amounts of information, including text, code, images, audio, and more.
- Immediate benefits:
  - Bard's responses are now more consistent with real-world information and search results.
    - Enhanced factual accuracy and search integration: Bard's responses are now more consistent with real-world information and search results.
- Potential benefits
  - Access to real-world data through Google Search significantly improved Bard's responses, making them more consistent and accurate.
  - Better understand complex questions, identify patterns and provide insightful and nuanced answers.
  - Generate diverse text formats like poems, code, scripts, and musical pieces.
  - Improved language understanding to translate languages has become more accurate and nuanced, thanks to Gemini Pro's advanced language processing capabilities.

^{3.) Bard and Gemini relationship.}

Gemini provides powerful processing and understanding capabilities, while Bard is the user-friendly interface for interacting with those capabilities.
Each component benefits from the other. Gemini gets real-world data and feedback through Bard's interactions, while Bard gets access to Gemini's ever-expanding knowledge and skills.
Gemini and Bard represent significant advancements in AI technology, paving the way for more advanced and intelligent interactions between humans and machines.

Gemini Ultra: A more powerful version of Gemini is expected in 2024, pushing the boundaries of LLM capabilities. Bard will undoubtedly benefit from this upgrade.
Bard Advanced: A premium tier of Bard powered by Gemini Ultra, designed for professional users and developers, further expanding its potential.
Broader integration: Expect to see Bard integrated into more Google services, bringing AI capabilities to a wider audience.

Using Bard for translation (supply chain and logistics application)

Let’s say you’re a buyer and you’re looking to source medical equipment supplies in Vietnam. Why not send an introductory email in Vietnamese?

Step one:

Craft your email

Dear Supplier,

I'm Will, the Sr Buyer at ABCDEFG Automotive. We're in the market for new suppliers in Vietnam, and your company's reputation stands out.

We are particularly interested in "Product XYZ". Could you please provide a quotation and information on production capacity, lead times, and minimum order requirements?

I am anticipating a fruitful collaboration.

Step two:

Copy and paste into Bard and ask it to translate, in this case, to Vietnamese (Bard output pictured below).

Now, you can translate it back to English once they respond in Vietnamese—for example, an email from the supplier below.

Chào anh Will,

Cảm ơn email của anh từ ABCDEFG Automotive. Chúng tôi rất vui biết anh quan tâm đến "Sản phẩm XYZ".

"Sản phẩm XYZ" chất lượng cao, sản xuất 10.000 đơn vị/tháng, giao hàng 30 ngày, MOQ 500 đơn vị.

Step one: Craft the email

Now, they responded, and we translated it back into English.

Step two: past into Bard and translate to Spanish.
